Last night on Twitter, one of the people I follow got super-discouraged about drawing and doing comics. Well, everyone, knock it off and here's why: Don't be discouraged by the works of other artists. I know that it's really easy to be! Usually it is because you are comparing your abilities to someone who has likely had many more years of practice and learning than you have. Of course that's going to be discouraging! Use their art and technique as inspiration for your own work! Feed off of it like a cicada on a tree root; learn and grow from their work and improve yourself! Don't stop drawing. And though I didn't get to go, a lot of my art went into the Art Show ... and ended up selling! I know, I am just as surprised as you are. If there was some art in my gallery you wanted to buy, well, sorry, but that ship has sailed. (o wait I still have the Silent Hill 3 picture available though! Actually, I still have the Homestuck pieces too; but I don't have permission from the Homestuck team to sell them, though. If you're interested, I'll see what I can do to make it happen for you. As soon as I get something to write a journal about besides which cons I will or won't be at, I'll put one up! In this case, it's more of the same. Except I won't actually be at A-Fest SORRY! I have several pieces that I'm getting into the art show though; mostly stuff I've recently posted. So if you wanted to take a shot at buying any of the originals and you're gonna be at A-Fest in Dallas next weekend, it's your time to shine like the crazy diamond you are.
